Ender's Home [08 Dec 2013|11:18am]

Hi, I can't really tell if slash is accepted here. Simply delete if it isn't. Thanks

Title: Ender's Home
Author: Ca_tharsis_
Pairing: Ender/Peter
Warning: Nothing canon about it.
Rating: NC-17
Summary: Seventeen year-old Ender is sent home after Commander School, and after his promotion to Admiral. Valentine and Peter are starting families of their own and Ender wonders where he fits in.

From the attic window, he watched for Valentine's Car. His personal console, a membrane-thin band around his wrist, kept him informed of her car's distance, her vital signature, and that of her unborn child's, as well as constants and fluctuations in various security checks around him. A third signature told him that Peter had agreed come along.

COMING SOON IN 2013 [26 Dec 2011|01:18am]

...sooooooooo have you guys heard a movie is being made?

Gavin Hood, the director (lauded for) Tsotsi and (scorned for) X-Men Origins: Wolverine is helming the project.

so far, here's how the cast looks:

some pretty wise and if i may say so impressive choices right there, kudos to the casting director.

Names, yes pleaseCollapse )

i don't know about you but i like how diverse the kids look and come from, you don't always need big names to make it work.

HUGO's Asa Butterfield's reaction when he nabbed the part of EnderCollapse )

Shadows in Flight Info [19 Jul 2010|11:29am]

Out of curiousity, does anyone have any information at all about Shadows in Flight? I haven't really heard anything except "it's coming someday." Have there been any updates about it? Ender in Exile came out pretty quickly after it was announced, I (sadly) assumed the same about this, especially since I prefer the Bean books.

Hey everyone, I just wanted to poke around and see if this community is still alive at all. Everything I find online that relates to Ender's Game seems to have died a few years ago, which is depressing. If there is anyone out there! Or anyplace where you have all congregated, let me know!

An Ender fan survey [31 Dec 2008|06:15pm]

Despite the enthusiasm of the fans I've talked to online and in the real world, Ender fan participation on the internet seems surprisingly lacking, given the breadth of the universe and the complexity of the characters. Considering the active nature of other fandoms, even obscure ones, I was surprised at the lack of organized discussion and fan-created literature and art. I'm trying to figure out why this is, so I've come up with a list of basic questions to try to pinpoint the demographics of the fandom.

So! If you guys would fill this out this short survey and add any opinions you might have about the online Ender fan community, here it is! You can answer all of the questions, or only a few; any input at all is appreciated.

Survey questions here!Collapse )

Feel free to add any information you feel is relevant, or to discuss anything the questions may have missed. This information will not be used for anything but my own informal research, and names/usernames will not be disclosed or taken into account. This is really just to help me and the rest of the Ender fandom understand more about itself! We seem to be a relatively small but desperately dedicated group, so I hope all of you who fill out the survey try to be as thorough as you can. Thanks!

Ender in Exile [23 Nov 2008|09:12pm]

[ mood | bouncy ]

So, who's read it? What did everyone think?

Personally I think the plot wasn't OSC's best but was still very engaging.  Overall the book felt to me like a family reunion of my favorite characters, so I was very pleased.  What's everyone else's thoughts?

Hi! [11 Jul 2008|09:53am]

Hi, everyone!

I just joined this community and orsonscottcard today (and I thought I'd just copy and edit my intro post from orsonscottcard while I'm at it...)

  • What's your name (real name or LiveJournal username--whichever you prefer)?

  • How old are you?
  • Where are you?
    Norfolk, VA
  • Why are you here?
I like Orson Scott Card's books! (Especially the Ender and Shadow series!)
  • How were you first introduced to Orson Scott Card? What was the first OSC work you read and when did you read it?
The first OSC book I read was Ender's Game, in high school, when I had to read it for a book report.  I ended up loving it, and it started me reading other OSC books!
  • List all the OSC works you have read.

    The Ender Saga
    Ender's Game
    Speaker for the Dead
    Children of the Mind

    The Shadow Saga
    Ender's Shadow
    Shadow of the Hegemon
    Shadow Puppets
    Shadow of the Giant

    First Meetings
  • What is your favorite OSC work? Why?
Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow, because it's very interesting to see the same story from completely different perspectives, and Shadow of the Hegemon because of Petra's very cool and hilariously sarcastic attitude!
  • Which OSC work have you not read yet, but especially want to?
Ender in Exile (once it's released!)
  • What other authors or books do you enjoy?
Michael Crichton, Dan Brown (everything EXCEPT Da Vinci Code), Steve Berry, Anne McCaffrey (especially the Dragonrider, Brainship, and Tower and Hive series), Madeleine L'Engle (A Wrinkle in Time and the other "Time Quintet" books), and of course, the original Nancy Drew mysteries by Carolyn Keene, and the Animorphs series by K.A. Applegate!
  • Anything else you would like to add?
I'm an anime and manga fan.  That's about it.

Wiggin for Hegemon 08! [26 May 2008|05:44pm]

[ mood | contemplative ]

Crossposted from the OSC community. I liked the introductory "interview" they used so I went ahead and used it here. Glad to see there are so many Enderverse fans on LJ!

  • What's your name (real name or LiveJournal username--whichever you prefer)? Keely Graesser

  • How old are you? 28 and currently expecting a son, to be named Peter :)

  • Where are you? Dallas, TX

  • Why are you here? Because I love OSC's writings

  • How were you first introduced to Orson Scott Card? What was the first OSC work you read and when did you read it? Ender's Game - I read it in high school after a girl in my class who didn't read often recommended it as a book that had "changed her life". I thought that any book good enough to impact a "non-reader" must be worth my time.

  • List all the OSC works you have read
First Meetings
The Abyss
The Worthing Saga

The Ender Saga
Ender's Game
Speaker for the Dead
Children of the Mind

The Shadow Saga
Ender's Shadow
Shadow of the Hegemon
Shadow Puppets
Shadow of the Giant

The Homecoming Saga
The Memory of Earth
The Call of Earth
The Ships of Earth

Also many of the Enderverse short stories on IGMS
  • Which OSC work have you not read yet, but especially want to? Ender in Exile! I can't wait until it comes out.

  • What other authors or books do you enjoy? Tolkein, CS Lewis, Heinlein, William Gibson, Asimov, Bradbury

  • Anything else you would like to add? I recently created a small shop for Peter Wiggin's fictional 2008 campaign if anyone is interested. The link is below:

[21 May 2008|06:55pm]

i'm new to livejournal but i've pretty much been in love with ender since the fourth grade. that's my awesome introduction. anyway, i heard a rumor that card is writing a new enderverse book to take place between "ender's game" and "speaker..." when he and val were travelling around. has that been confirmed or am i just talking out of my ass (my ever-hopeful ass)?

anyway, i don't know how active this group is...but if anyone's around who can give me the low down on the new books rumors it would be muchly appreciated. i'm sure i could go elsewhere online to find such information...but i am FAR too lazy. heh.

What's with the naked? [14 May 2008|11:44pm]

So we read Ender's Game in English class, and I got hooked. I didn't like the direct sequels much, but I'm reading (and loving) Ender's Shadow right now. But guys, I got a question. Why is everybody in Ender's Game always naked? It's like, every other page, BAM hit me with baby sausage. Makes it hard to take the book seriously, y'know?

Ender's Game fandom history [01 May 2008|03:54pm]

Can anyone help edit the Orson Scott Card article on Fan History? It could use some more information on the Ender's Game fandom in it. The article is currently a bit to book release, LiveJournal and Wikipedia date heavy. Really could use some more information about the fandom from some one who is more knowledgeable. Thanks!

I'm afraid I'm no longer too active on LiveJournal anymore, and I'm offering up this community for anyone else who'd like to own/moderate it. As much as I continue to love this book series (I work in a bookstore, so I also get to enjoy it with many others on an almost daily basis), real-life has consumed the amount of time I have to do, well, anything consuming on the internet (for the most part). So, anyone who'd like it, ask away. (if anybody)

I just spent the last two hours reading over all the previous entries here, and had to join. i recently re-read Ender's Game, and fell in love with it all over again.

But yes. Name's Monkey. And I stink at intro's~
